Restore, Rebuild, Renew

repairs

Most all wood pieces at some time or another need to be repaired.   Sometimes, it is as simple as regluing the spindles on a chair.  Chairs get the hardest use of all furniture in the home.  There are times when a spindle or chair seat breaks and must be repaired.  At Valley Stripping & Furniture Restoration, we can handle the simple repairs, or we can fabricate new parts and spindles to make extensive repairs as needed to make the piece good as new again.

In some cases, parts may need to be fabricated.  We can disassemble the piece, take measurements, make patterns, locate the proper wood for the replacement piece.  Some pieces take planing, sawing, routing and/or lathe work to make the part(s) appropriate for the piece being repaired.
At times, a piece of furniture has been repaired unsuccessfully.  Various screws and brackets have been added  - like the chair to the left.  This chair had over 30 pieces of metal holding it together, as shown in the right photo.  Once the chair was stripped of the excess metal, new spindle ends added, joints cleaned and then reglued, it was ready for another "50,000 miles".

At Valley Stripping & Furniture Restoration, we are able to make molds and cast new parts from plastic that cannot be made from wood effeciently to make the repairs.   Once these new pieces are cast, they can be colored, glued or fastened in place to complete the repair or finishing of the piece.  This casting process provides another option for repairing furniture efficiently and effectively.
